Ice Bucket Challenged

LucidDogTraining Culture, Educate, News

August heat and vacation schedules sometimes make it easy to miss what’s happening in culture.  So just in case you haven’t taken notice of the Ice Bucket Challenge mania that has swept social media over the past week or two, here’s a link to the ALS Association, the people largely responsible for the phenomenon, explaining what’s been going on.

Just as with all such trends, successes and failures have beautifully been captured on video for the entire connected world to enjoy and share. So, of course, the fine folks over at Buzzfeed have compiled a list of the most entertaining Ice Bucket Challenge FAILS.

Beyond great fun that is reminiscent of the many fathers on America’s Funniest Videos who have taken a shot between the legs from a wiffle or baseball ball bat swung by a small child, Number 17 on the Buzzfeed list (viewable below) is also a wonderful demonstration of things not to do with your otherwise cool and well-behaved dog.

1) If you insist on tying your dog to something (an act usually discouraged), make sure it will hold.

2) Don’t set your dog up for failure by introducing him to a new and sudden experience that he isn’t ready for.

3) Don’t then yell at your dog for getting spooked after you presented him with said new and sudden experience that he was not ready for.
